Written during the fall of 2012 in Tisdale apartment #4 at Keene State College with my friend and fellow musician, Kaylene Lemme. We said, "hey lets write a song together," and then proceeded to write this song in a couple hours. It usually doesn't work this way in songwriting but I think we were both feeling the change of season from summer to fall. This song is a companion with "Summer Girl" because it is about wondering what happened after summer's flare. It's about not knowing what to do but realizing by song's end that the other person already made a decision to not be there. This recording I am most proud of because Kaylene and I did this in one vocal take and captured the emotions of this song.
lyrics
1st Verse: When the summer has ended we’ll be leaving our house,
With the swift move of autumn will be pushing us out,
To the lives where the people and their faces don’t count,
‘cause I don’t see you here.
You know the days and the months keep turning me round,
Make me dizzy and I’m busy falling down on the ground,
And all leaves have already changed their color by now,
But I don’t see you here, I don’t see you anywhere
Chorus:
Where have you gone?
I’m without you here
Did you want me to wait you were unclear,
Time is moving on,
I don’t want to fear,
That we left this all unclear.
2nd Verse: The air is getting colder and the ground is all wet,
my reflections making faces with the shapes of my head,
change my mind if my mind wasn’t already set,
on you being here.
I remember when the sun wasn’t so fast to set,
You and me picking flowers of the prettiest red,
waking up in the morning sharing the same bed,
yeah you were right here, oh but now you’ve disappeared.
Chorus:
Ending Chorus:
Where have you gone?
I’m without you here,
Did you want me to wait you were unclear,
Time is moving on,
I don’t want to fear,
That we left this all unclear (X2)
I’ve waited for too long,
To be without you here,
‘Cause you’re the one that left, that’s clear.
