about

Written on a park bench behind Bourgeois Hall at Umass Lowell in the Fall of 2011. I've always had a hard time paying attention in class. Ever since I was a little kid, I've day dreamed about music and the freedom it gives me to express myself. I've also had several jobs which required me to wake up at crazy hours of the day to go do something I don't want to do! This song is about figuring out what you really want to do in life, which for me is music. I think if everybody could do their dream job, we wouldn't need to daydream. You can live this life, all you have to do is press play.

lyrics

Verse: I look ahead into the days and see my life coming through. A different home a different place, a life that I never knew was possible or was I just falling asleep in the back of the class room.

I hit my head, I must have fell and lost all sense of cause. I shouldn't think the way I do, I think I might upset you. You told me what I should be, but that's not what I'm gonna do.

I ride around in my little car, I never go very far. I'm always tempted to go on and ride this journey along to where I belong, to where I can't be wrong.

Chorus: I'm taking a stand today, I will not conform again. No I'm not giving in an inch. Well life's just a game they say. Celebrate it like a holiday, like a song beating in your heart, that won't go away, now press play.

Verse 2: I put it on, my plainest shirt so I can blend with the jerks, and I always do the best I can to not start acting absurd. 'Cause when I come home from work it kills me that I have to get back up in the morning.

We all need a little greed, we have to be so funny. A man can be only as big as how he stacks his money, it rules all of us fools, when did this become so cool?

Chorus: I'm taking a stand today, I will not conform again. No I'm not giving in an inch. Well life's just a game they say. Celebrate it like a holiday, like a song beating in your heart, that won't go away, now press play.

Verse: I hit my head, I must have fell and lost all sense of cause. I shouldn't think the way I do, I think I might upset you. You told me what I should be, but that's not what I'm gonna do.

Chorus: I'm taking a stand today, I will not conform again. No I'm not giving in an inch. Well life's just a game they say. *Celebrate it with a birthday cake, like a song beating in your heart, that won't go away, now press play.
